QUIKSILVER PRESENTS 2ND ANNUAL SURF & SKATE AUCTION EVENT
This Friday night marks the second annual Surf & Skate Auction event, featuring art by ThinkTank Collective member Kaleb Higgins, as well as friends of the gallery and up-and-coming painters like Gregory Siff and Shplinton. The show will also feature work by a multitude of established street artists, surfboard customizers, and tattoo artists, and if it is anything like the last show sponsored by Quiksilver then you can expect a great time.

Presented by Quiksilver’s new 585 Boardriders concept store, the second annual Surf & Skate Auction event will include live music, refreshments and meet-and-greets with various artists.

Art sales benefit a great cause, as well, as all proceeds go toward the Venice Family Clinic. The show kicks off a great night at the Venice Art Walk, so find details below.

GREGORY SIFF THERE AND BACK OPENING NIGHT PHOTO RECAP PT II

GREGORY SIFF THERE AND BACK OPENING NIGHT PHOTO RECAP PT I

After exhibiting a couple pieces at ThinkTank Gallery’s Make Art Make Friends exhibition, Gregory Siff had his first solo show in Hollywood, CA last night. The show displayed a great many works that have ventured from his signature geometric abstraction and into an abstract firm of faces matched almost subconsciously with words of all types.

The artist displayed a lot of personal expression in the Brooklyn-to-LA stories in his work, and notes scrawled across huge pieces let viewers into his inner thoughts during creation. The opening also unveiled a one-off pair of Gregory Siff Supra Skytops, and a dope new shirt in collaboration with Twelve Hearts, which you can buy exclusively at their site now that the opening is said and done.

Check out Siff’s Tumblr here and Part II of the image recap here.

TWELVE HEARTS X GREGORY SIFF TSHIRT
After a wonderful opening at Siren Studios in Hollywood last night, Brooklyn-born artist Gregory Siff is gaining a bunch of new fans. His departure from geometric abstraction in a street art style and into a conceptual amalgam of faces mixed with words in a stream of consciousness creates a beautiful Pop Art look, especially with his obsessive use of primary colors. You can see some of his work in the promo video for his show, below.

In a collaboration with the shirt brand Twelve Bar, Siff takes their signature heart and re-imagines it with Siff’s unique “faces” artwork, with the phrase “There & Back” between the shoulders. If you missed the event, which was one of two places you could buy the shirt, you can check out the online store to pick it up now.

THERE AND BACK: GREGORY SIFF PREVIEW VIDEO

Moving from geometric abstraction back to a place of figural abstraction, though still in his signature linework style, Gregory Siff is entering the Los Angeles limelight with his upcoming solo show There and Back. This preview video gives a hint of what’s to come.

With a series of faces done singularly with one line across most of the facial features, Siff’s work is headed in a new and exciting direction, and he’ll be throwing a party to celebrate this transition in his work.

Tomorrow, March 1st, from 6-11PM, Siff will have an opening party for his new series at Siren Studios on 6063 West Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. The ASCK crew will be there so if you stop by come find me and take a picture!
