SOCIAL STATUS X MAX100 X NIKE AIR MAX 1 LIMITED RUN

For 25 years the Air Max 1 has been inspiring Nike fans and filling their closets with colorway after colorway. On September 15th one of the more compelling adventures in the life of Tinker Hatfield’s accomplished sneaker model takes place, involving Matt Stevens’ inspired MAX100 Project which took the artists’ passion for “the greatest sneaker of all time” and turned it into a book of the most interesting footwear-inspired drawings we have seen. Now Nike has teamed up with Stevens to produce a few of the shoes as referenced in the drawings from the book.

On September 15th, Social Status of Charlotte, North Carolina will host ten one-of-a-kind pairs of Nike Air Max 1 sneakers to be auctioned off to benefit local charities. Each pair will also come in a numbered, wooden box.

NIKE AIR TRAINER 1 PREMIUM “BB51”

After recently released pics of this pair’s vice versa, the Nike Air Trainer 1 Premium “BB51” was previewed recently in a black/khaki colorway. The upper has a rather luxurious feel to it with black leather, and brown stripes and khaki accents give sparse visual texture throughout. The BB51 collection does not yet have a release date, but you can expect to see more info here soon.

NIKE SHOESHINE PROJECT 2012 - THE AIR REACTOR POWERED BY INSTALLITE

After posting Osamu Koyama’s majestic winged Nike boots yesterday, I thought it best to highlight some of the other innovative work to come out of Nike’s Shoeshine Project. This year the team of artists were more along the installation artist lines, while past Projects have had various sneaker artist types involved. EmmanueLabor describes the show as follows:

ShoeShine is a bi-annual event held in Denver. The winter show usually coincides with Winter X Games and is sponsored by Nike Snowboarding. The last one I participated in… they provided the boots and a brief of the theme, and give me a deadline and let me cook.

The video above shows two artists coming together, combining styles to create a futuristic sneaker design called the AIR REACTOR, powered by Installite. The end result is highly impressive and comparable to some of the other amazing work to come out of the show.

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 “DIGI CAMO” TEASER WITH L3NF

With the 30th anniversary of the Nike Air Force 1 in full effect but with minimal advertising, as would be proper for any event recognizing the AF1, a teaser for the Nike Air Force 1 “Digi Camo” has the hype swirling over one of sneaker cultures most popular silhouettes of all time. Officially slated for release on June 24th, the quickstrike release was previewed a short time ago and is now teased with this short video from NikeNYC, featuring the increasingly popular l3nf crew for added streetwear street cred.

AIR JORDAN I “DAVE WHITE” CUSTOM BY MACHE

Dan of Mache Customs is one customizer who really liked the Dave White Air Jordan design from early this year. In further commemoration, Mache has created another custom sneaker design, this time on Air Jordan I lows with the toe dipped in gold. A white leather base with red stripes around the back mocking White’s style, and stars with black accents across the side set the pair off as arguably his best Dave White homage to date.

NIKE AIR “SAFARI” PACK

Nike recently showed off their newest animal-themed sneaker with a less straightforward design. The “Safari” pack exemplifies what can be done with a theme if it is stretched out to a color wide on the palette and paired with a fresh design. The two pairs in the pack both bear black, biege, and charcoal colorways with a black and grey spotted print around the toe, and they both retail for $110 on June 30th.

LIBERTY X NIKE WMNS AIR MAX 1 “SAIL”

With a name to match the impeccable Summer feel of these Nike WMNS sneakers, the “Sail” colorway for the latest Liberty and Nike Air Max 1 collaboration will be perfect for every lady’s Summer garb. The shoes take what the “Sport Red" design does and dumb them down to a more versatile and neutral model, while fitting the high standard that all of Nike’s WMNS line sneakers put forth. The suede overlay adds an extra layer of class to these casual sneakers, as well.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN NIKE FOAMPOSITES

Google Patents can provide you with more than just a fun few hours of research on how some of the world’s most brilliant minds have invented some game-changing items, but it can also provide a source of inspiration for things as niche as sneaker design. The Nike Foamposite is a shoe that was originally considered too difficult to produce, but after some of the most genius footwear engineers on the planet put their minds to it, the hottest original sneaker model in recent times was born of a complex process. Blogger Gary Warnett has discovered this process, and lays it out in a recent post.
