A BATHING APE X ANDY WARHOL X MEDICOM TOY 2012 CAMO BANANA

While Pop artists of our time such as Koons, Hirst, Fairey, and the ominous figure Banksy may have perfected the idea, it took a lifetime of criticism for Andy Warhol to introduce the concept of artist as “brand” to the high art world. Certainly artists like Shep are benefiting from the groundwork with highly successful clothing lines borrowing from their work on the walls of the world’s museums, while Warhol is either dancing on golden paved streets or rolling in his grave as he witnesses his name live on in continually varying forms.

Japanese streetwear company A Bathing Ape has teamed up with Warhol and Medicom Toy to create a plush body pillow featuring the artist’s famous banana. The yellow and black outside of the pillow opens to reveal a BAPE camo pillow inside. The pillow comes in three sizes and camouflage colors - pink, green, and blue - and is available now for Kyoto BAPEXCLUSIVE pre-sale, officially launching on June 9.

ORIGINALFAKE X MEDICOM TOY - KAWS PARTNERS
With a price remarkably low for a bronze figure of its caliber, this collaboration between OriginalFake and Medicom Toys creates a scene reminiscent of the iconic statue of Walt Disney and his life’s work in front of Disneyland.
In classic KAWS style, his famous “Companion” gives a sense of disdain while the artist reaches forth, and provides a sense of evolution from the joy of mass appeal in pop culture. The figure will drop shortly before the “Down Time” Exhibition begins at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art.
You can pick up the PARTNERS figure starting Saturday, January 28 for ¥14,490 JPY (approximately $188 USD) at colette.
