NIKE ZOOM ROOKIE “MATTE RED”

While we don’t have an exact release date yet, the Nike Zoom Rookie “Matte Red” has been a talking point since its first pictures were released. The shoe is a staple in sneaker collections, and this new model with a matte red covering the entire shoe save for the icy sole on the bottom should make for one of the more compelling releases of the silhouette. Despite the fact that we don’t yet have release info, you can pick up a pair now at soleawesome.

NIKE SHOESHINE PROJECT 2012 - THE AIR REACTOR POWERED BY INSTALLITE

After posting Osamu Koyama’s majestic winged Nike boots yesterday, I thought it best to highlight some of the other innovative work to come out of Nike’s Shoeshine Project. This year the team of artists were more along the installation artist lines, while past Projects have had various sneaker artist types involved. EmmanueLabor describes the show as follows:

ShoeShine is a bi-annual event held in Denver. The winter show usually coincides with Winter X Games and is sponsored by Nike Snowboarding. The last one I participated in… they provided the boots and a brief of the theme, and give me a deadline and let me cook.

The video above shows two artists coming together, combining styles to create a futuristic sneaker design called the AIR REACTOR, powered by Installite. The end result is highly impressive and comparable to some of the other amazing work to come out of the show.

NIKE SHOESHINE PROJECT 2012 - AMERICAN EAGLE BY OSAMU KOYAMA

Having incorporated artists from all over the globe, including custom sneaker OG EmmanueLabor, Nike’s Shoeshine Project has become a staple in shoe customization each year. Somehow the work seems to get more impressive each year, and 2012 gave way to the best work yet. Filmmaker Ronin spent nine days with jeweler Osamu Koyama as he built this glorious gold-plated, winged Nike boot upon the white Nike Zoom Force 1 that serves as the canvas. This seven-minute video shows the artist’s process and certainly stands out as one of the most masterful custom sneaker creations of all time.

NIKE WARDOUR MAX 1

With simplicity at its core and style at first glance, the Nike Wardour Max 1 is a shoe that shows through its inspiration of the Wardour Chukka greatly while standing on its own as a great sneaker. The shoe takes the popular chukka silhouette and places an Air Max 1 sole unit beneath it to combine into a beautiful shoe. With d-ring lace eyelets and bright lace accents, the shoe fits well into its overseas price point through retailer Hanon, translating to about $143.

SUPREME X NIKE SB DUNK LOW 2012
Prior Supreme and Nike collaborations have created some of the most coveted sneakers ever, and a release that happens tomorrow should create similar levels of jealousy. Red full grain leather and iconic cement/elephant print paneling around the shoe calls back to the Supreme Dunk Low that is the call for celebration in this 10 year anniversary edition of the sneaker. New pictures from the brand also give a look at the black outsoles, lining, laces, and Swoosh which add contrast.
New York, London, and Los Angeles stores - as well as online chapters - receive the shoes tomorrow, July 19th. Japan receives the sneaker on the 21st.

NIKE LEBRON 9 “WEATHERMAN” CUSTOM BY SAB-ONE

When Kevin Durant’s “Weatherman” colorway for the Nike Zoom KDIV came out, it was predicted by some to be the next “NERF” or “South Beach” in color flip customs, but quickly slipped under the radar (no pun intended) when the “Galaxy” phenomenon swept the community. Some of the bigger names in customs didn’t forget this highly compelling makeup, and Sab-One recently took to a staple in color flips to show how well it could cross over. His Lebron 9 custom matches the color palette almost perfectly, and recreated the Doppler Radar pattern on the ankle and inside the shoe.

Sab works almost exclusively in one-offs, but you can ask for your own at his site.

NIKE TOTAL AIR FOAMPOSITE MAX

Taking a pattern adopted by customizers and a style of sneaker adopted as a base favorite, Nike’s newest Foamposite design features a splatter fade much like the Miami nights colorways that have grown popular of late. Black and blue intersect in various collisions across the upper, and the midsole continues the pattern as a silver Swoosh provides contrast. Details soon.

With the 30th anniversary of the Nike Air Force 1 in full effect but with minimal advertising, as would be proper for any event recognizing the AF1, a teaser for the Nike Air Force 1 “Digi Camo” has the hype swirling over one of sneaker cultures most popular silhouettes of all time. Officially slated for release on June 24th, the quickstrike release was previewed a short time ago and is now teased with this short video from NikeNYC, featuring the increasingly popular l3nf crew for added streetwear street cred.
