TUMBLR STORYBOARD: BREAKFAST WITH KREAYSHAWN

Editor, director, plus she’s her own boss, Kreayshawn sits down with Tumblr to perpetuate the oddball image for one of hip hop’s favorite white girls. Since adopting pre-teen pro skater Baby Scumbag as her new son (and one with which she discusses smoking weed openly), Kreayshawn has put out a new album and is looking to extend the fame that “Gucci Gucci” brought her. Being an LA resident from NorCal myself, I hear plenty of critique on the White Girl Mob and their hijinks, but it’s hard to deny that the rapper’s music is catchy as all hell and her personality is nothing if not large.

DIE ANTWOORD - DIS IS WHY I’M HOT (ZEF REMIX)

With appearances by graffiti artist David Choe, photographer Estevan Oriol and contributions by Fab 5 Freddy and Mister Cartoon, Die Antwoord’s new music video is an homage to a song that tore through the early 2000s. With a commentary on South Africa that could not be more poignant if spoken by any other emcees, Ninja and Yo-Landi speak on the racism and crime prevalent in the public image of the country since the 80s. They also make jokes about Twilight because they’re Die Antwoord, but the satirical evolution from Nelson Mandela to District 9 is a beautiful one. I wish all bands made fun home-videos like this while on tour.

A$AP ROCKY FT. SCHOOBLOY Q “BRAND NEW GUY” VIDEO

Bay to LA may have been the theme in hip hop last year, but the current trend is moving toward a collision of coasts in the hottest rap collabs. East Coast phenomenon A$AP Rocky has teamed up with LA-native ScHoolboy Q again for a video from the single “Brand NEw Guy” on the LiveLoveA$AP mixtape. The artists share verses in Harlem for the video directed by The ICU and the man A$AP Rocky himself.

A$AP ROCKY - “GOLDIE” VIDEO (NSFW)

A$AP Rocky has moved from a place of name-dropping to a place of ironic name-dropping, hushing some critics while confusing some others. The artist is still planning to show off some flashy things - rocking everything from Jeremy Scott to Ace of Spades in his new video - but now when Pretty Flacko name-drops Cristal it’s because he is saying that drinking 40s taste better to get a rise out of rich folks.

The Rocky-styled and directed music video sees the rapper and his crewmate A$AP Yams driving an antique luxury car around Paris beneath the Eiffel Tower and Arc De Triomphe. It also sees quite a bit of a naked model.

“Basically the concept of the video is to be more flamboyant and just to showcase a lot of flashy luxury—old foreign cars and fashion models,” said Pretty Flacko, who directed and styled the video. “I need you to know this is all my idea. I’m the flyest motherfu**er you know.”
