ODD FUTURE - SAM (IS DEAD) VIDEO

In the latest video from the Odd Future camp, Tyler, the Creator directs a self-inflicted massacre in a style that varies greatly from what he has done in the past. With a war movie feel, Domo Genesis and Wolf Haley spit over a dark beat as the entire Odd Future cast flees an unknown enemy in the jungle while “Sam (Is Dead)” from OF Mixtape Vol. 2 plays in the background of this short film.

AZEALIA BANKS - LIQUORICE MUSIC VIDEO

With costumes designed by Lady Gaga’s stylist Nicola Formichetti, including cowgirl chaps and an American flag and denim hybrid two piece, Azealia Banks’ new video is full of stunning visuals. Directed by Rankin, the video is full of sexy visuals and phallic objects that Banks plays with in a Wild West setting. While it may not be the critic-silencing collaboration she has promised, the flow is undeniable even if the flashiness implies a fakeness prevalent in hype hop.

KANYE WEST - “LOST IN THE WORLD” VIDEO

While Kanye may have experienced overwhelming failure in impressing critics with the debut of his fashion line, the artist always has the option to fall back on a career as one of the most gigantic rappers in history. That’s just what he does with his new video directed by fashion world titan and filmmaker Ruth Hobgen. The video is a wide departure from most seen within the hip hop genre, but a short one from the interesting and artsy types of things Ye seems to be into.

M.I.A. - “COME WALK WITH ME” PREVIEW

M.I.A. has become a hip hop superstar and rebel in the spotlight over the years, and since pulling stunts like flipping the bird at a Superbowl appearance. The artist has a new album - Matangi - coming out this Summer, but she is outwardly so excited about the project that she can barely contain herself.

While she may not be climbing the Himalayas, she is doing the next best thing by teasing her fans with a video of people dancing to her new single, “Come Walk With Me.” Just some great dancing, and no controversy around the song yet, but we can expect some drama soon if history has anything to say about it.

A$AP ROCKY “GOLDIE” - FIRST SINGLE FROM LONGLIVEA$AP

After one of the more talked-about performances at Coachella during the opening weekend, A$AP Rocky has dropped the first single from his debut album, “Goldie.” It’s hard to believe he is as popular as he is without even having dropped an album yet, but with a flow like this one over production by Hit-Boy, one can see why. LongLiveA$AP drops in July.

LIL B - THE BASEDPRINT II MIXTAPE DROPS BEFORE NYU GUEST LECTURE
With cover art that features a shoddy Photoshop job replacing Jay-Z’s head with that of the Based God, and a title in Comic Sans, it’s no wonder Lil B has confused new listeners with a mix of over-the-top terrible rapping and a series of dark and deeply intense undertones through his myriad of tracks across what seems like hundreds of mixtapes. “The Basedprint II” couldn’t come at a more impacting time, however, with news of a lecture at NYU by the Berkeley native selling out in 10 minutes.
The 20-track mixtape kicks off with a track dedicated to the university that will host his lecture today. Here’s hoping those of us who can’t get to New York still get some exciting snippets from the interview. Download the mixtape here.

SNOOP DOGG ROLLING WORDS SMOKABLE SONGBOOK

Snoop Dogg is a man known for escaping murder charges and smoking weed, not to mention daytime television on basic cable. But when it comes to hip hop, there are few who surpass the level of success Snoop has seen. If you want to absorb his greatness for a chance at reaching this notoriety yourself, what better way than to breathe in the lyrics of some of his most sellingest songs?

The Snoop Dogg Rolling Words book in promotion of the artist’s new rolling paper line allows for just that, putting his best song lyrics down in nontoxic ink on paper that is made to smoke, with a match striking surface on the spine. A video describes the book in fuller detail. You can pick up the book soon online or test it out with sample posters with detachable tabs at this year’s Coachella festival.

Snoop Dogg Smokable Songbook by Pereira & O’Dell

Probably the most brilliant interactive product tie-in of all time, to promote Snoop Dogg’s own brand of rolling papers, Pereira and O’Dell have rolled this excellent  songbook made from hemp-related materials with the spine of the book acting as a match striking surface. Inside, each page is a rolling paper with Snoop’s greatest songs and lyrics written on them, in non-toxic ink, of course. Gotta be careful what you put in your lungs!

INTERVIEW+ STEVE AOKI FT. KID CUDI & TRAVIS BARKER - CUDI THE KID VIDEO

It’s been ten years since Steve Aoki started down the road that led him intense success in the music business, a seat high atop the pop dubstep elite, and a friend list that stretches from Weezer to Weezy. The music video for “Cudi the Kid,” a track off his debut album Wonderland, which is in stores now, brings viewers back to their own childhoods, but in a surreal and visually stunning way.

Check out this wonderful interview about the Wonderland development process, as well. Great read.

CHILDISH GAMBINO - “EAT YOUR VEGETABLES”

Childish Gambino - who is known to many by his real name through a successful YouTube-turned-primetime-TV acting career - put out a new track this week that displays his signature refined delivery. Titled “Eat Your Vegetables,” the track is all at once fun and hyper yet relaxed and insightful. Find a mixture of politics and luxury rap in this track that is likely off of the upcoming mixtape from the rising star.

INTERVIEW: TYLER, THE CREATOR WITH OYSTER MAGAZINE “I HATE TUMBLR.”
Tyler, The Creator is a challenge that every interviewer in hip hop must attempt at one point or another, and Alexi Wasser from Oyster Magazine finds more success than most in this sit-down with the 21-year old rapper and entrepreneur behind the massively successful Odd Future. From music to drugs and Tyler’s refusal to take part in them, the interview spans a variety of topics and the hype hop star shines in one of his most transparent interviews to date. Check out a small sample from the interview below and the entire conversation here.

Do you meet girls on Twitter and Facebook? No, I don’t read my mentions on Twitter. I have Facebook, but it’s private, so only my friends can see anything I post. I hate Tumblr.
Why? Being in Europe for two months with a broken foot, and being on a tour bus with people who just smoke weed and sit on Tumblr all day and don’t go outside and do anything. It just made me hate that shit. I don’t have one.
