DIE ANTWOORD - DIS IS WHY I’M HOT (ZEF REMIX)

With appearances by graffiti artist David Choe, photographer Estevan Oriol and contributions by Fab 5 Freddy and Mister Cartoon, Die Antwoord’s new music video is an homage to a song that tore through the early 2000s. With a commentary on South Africa that could not be more poignant if spoken by any other emcees, Ninja and Yo-Landi speak on the racism and crime prevalent in the public image of the country since the 80s. They also make jokes about Twilight because they’re Die Antwoord, but the satirical evolution from Nelson Mandela to District 9 is a beautiful one. I wish all bands made fun home-videos like this while on tour.

MISTER CARTOON X ESTEVAN ORIOL X DIESEL: ONLY BRAVE VIDEO

If it seems Mister Cartoon has been all over the place of late, it’s because he has. But in a collaboration with Diesel for its new cologne, “Only The Brave – Tattoo edition,” the East Los Angeles-based graffiti artist is back in his home town. In a video directed by friend Estevan Oriol, Cartoon comments on the region and its contribution to the arts:

We feel this video piece gives the viewer an inside look at my life, my world in L.A. From shots of where I grew up in the harbor area, to my car collection, to my graff brother RISK, here is a slice of the real L.A.

Diesel Only the Brave Tattoo is available now in Europe and hits the States in 2013, but for now check this video of the graffiti and tattoo legend roaming the streets of the City of Angels.

MISTER CARTOON X DYLAN MADDUX: BANGKOK VIDEO

From Art in the Streets to Bangkok, Thailand, the world renowned tattoo and graffiti artist from Los Angeles who goes by the moniker of Mister Cartoon sits down for a rare interview with director Dylan Maddux (Tumblr).

After being given the opportunity by a friend named Tatt who he met in LA, the artist was hosted in a foreign land and given the opportunity to tattoo outside of his comfort zone. Mister Cartoon describes his experience and shares his thoughts on everything from Thai boxing to Tuk Tuks and their similarity to the low-rider culture in his homeland. They don’t make ‘63 Chevy Impalas anymore, either.
